Amazon’s Legal Chief Still Made Money in Biannual ‘Off’ Pay Year

Amazon.com Inc.’s longtime general counsel David Zapolsky received $371,600 in total compensation last year, according to a proxy statement filed Thursday.

The filing shows that Zapolsky earned $365,000 in salary and $6,600 in additional benefits, much less than the roughly $18.2 million pay package he received from Amazon in 2022. The Seattle-based company, however, awards its executives large stock grants every two years. Zapolsky has watched the cash portion of his compensation increase by more than double the $160,000 salary he received from Amazon in 2021.
