A Texas associate judge was publicly admonished by a state ethics board for delaying in withdrawing as counsel of record in multiple cases after he took office.
The State Commission on Judicial Conduct concluded that James D. Lucas, associate judge of the 388th District Court of El Paso, should be disciplined for continuing to practice law after taking the bench, in violation of Canon 4G of the Texas Code of Judicial Conduct. The commission made the determination in an order dated Aug. 29 but made public this week.
