An Ohio attorney who stole more than $225,000 from a client’s estate to pay his own living expenses has lost his license to practice law in the state.
The Ohio Supreme Court permanently disbarred Nathan Harvey on Thursday, saying the state’s board of professional conduct incorrectly adopted a three-member panel’s recommended lesser sanction of an indefinite suspension—which it reached based on mitigating factors that didn’t apply to the case. The court adopted the board’s misconduct findings, but said permanent disbarment was the only appropriate sanction.
