Maryland lawmakers on Monday approved a sports wagering bill that could generate at least $17 million annually in revenue with a tax rate of 15%.
The compromise agreement between the House of Delegates and the Senate, on the legislative session’s last day, would allow 10 license agreements for the state’s larger casinos, the Laurel Park racetrack, and the three professional sports teams. The bill, which would take effect June 1, next goes to Republican Gov. Larry Hogan’s desk.
