An attorney in Louisiana was disbarred after the state’s high court held that he neglected legal matters, failed to communicate with clients, failed to provide client files, and failed to cooperate with investigations in six cases.
William K. Hawkins, who was admitted to the practice of law in Louisiana in 1988 and disciplined for mishandling client funds in 2008, was hit with formal charges by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel in June 2021. In several matters, Hawkins was found to have avoided communications and disregarded known duties to his clients.
Hawkins purportedly failed to answer the formal charges.
