An Illinois lawyer who pocketed more than $375,000 that should have been transferred to his clients, including a disabled minor and the children of a police officer who died on duty, should be disbarred, a disciplinary commission recommended Thursday.
The lawyer, Jason Russel Caraway, didn’t file an appearance or answer a complaint filed by the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, a default proceeding said. The only contact the commission achieved with Caraway was when its agent handed paperwork to his wife at his home, it said.
