Lawyer Gets Stern Warning But No Disqualification for Disrespect

A lawyer who allegedly threatened defense counsel in an excessive force case against an officer from Carlsbad, Calif., received a reprimand from a federal judge, but will be allowed to continue representing the plaintiff in the action.

Genaro Lara represents Jose Centeno, a disabled man over 60 years old who accused a police officer of using excessive force when arresting him for trying to unlock his own truck. Centeno said Carlsbad officer Jordan Walker threw him to the ground and caused permanent damage and additional traumas.
