Georgia Lawyer Disbarred for Abandoning Client, Other Violations

An attorney in Georgia was disbarred Tuesday after the state’s high court determined that he abandoned a client’s divorce case, failed to provide another former client’s file to his new attorney, and failed to participate in disciplinary investigations.

Franklin McCrea was hit by two Georgia State Bar complaints, including one alleging he failed to provide a client file to a client’s new attorney in a federal criminal matter. In the second matter, McCrea was accused of failing to respond to a client and failing to finalize the client’s divorce case.
