Fear caused by President Trump’s Executive Orders targeting the legal community persists, even though law firms’ federal court challenges have been largely successful.
Speaking on May 29 at the American Bar Association’s 50th National Conference on Professional Responsibility in a session titled “Law Firm and Lawyer Responses to Executive Orders and Administration Directives,” American Bar Association President William R. Bay, a partner with Thompson Coburn LLP in St. Louis, observed that the orders caused a change in conduct at major law firms that includes pulling down diversity information from their websites and decreasing pro bono work.
