Dismissal of Texas County Clerk’s Harassment Suit Set Aside (1)

The dismissal of a former criminal clerk’s sexual harassment lawsuit against Burleson County, Texas, based on a former judge’s alleged abuse may be short-lived, federal court records in the state show.

The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas Aug. 24 granted the county’s motion for reconsideration and dismissed Jane Doe AW’s suit under 42 U.S.C. §1983 on the ground that her separate settlement with the judge effectively included her claim against the county. But on Wednesday, the court entered an order setting aside the judgment of dismissal “pending further order.”
