Zynga Defeats Texas Patent Suit Over Slot Game Technology (1)

Zynga Inc. defeated IGT US’s patent infringement suit alleging three popular online casino slot games infringed a mobile device patent, a Texas federal jury determined Friday.

The jury in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas found Zynga’s “Games of Thrones,” “Hit it Rich” and “Black Diamond Casino” did not infringe IGT’s US Patent No. 9,159,189, which deals with mobile devices not stopping a game when communication is interrupted. The jury determined the ‘189 patent is invalid because of obviousness.
