A Texas federal judge tossed a patent suit against ZipRecruiter Inc. over technology related to job recruitment, finding its employees’ homes aren’t a place of business for the company.
California-based ZipRecruiter previously leased shared office space in Austin, Texas, in the U.S District Court for the Western District of Texas. ZipRecruiter ended the lease in June 2020, a few months into the Covid-19 pandemic.
Arguing venue was proper in the district, GreatGigz said the pandemic forced people to work remotely. That effectively transfered ZipRecruiter’s place of business from the leased office space to the workers’ homes, it said.
