Zillow Gets U.S. Patent Office Review of Two IBM Patents

A U.S. Patent and Trademark Office tribunal will review two patents that IBM Corp. has accused Zillow Group Inc. of infringing, even though the online real estate service argued in district court that parts of the patents are indefinite.

IBM filed a patent suit against Zillow in September 2019. Among the patents it alleges are infringed are U.S. Patent Nos. 7,076,443 and 8,315,904, relating to targeted advertising and a method for producing a promotion list.

IBM argued the PTAB should deny review because Zillow has argued in district court that numerous claim terms in each patent are indefinite.
