Zillow Group Inc. successfully challenged an $8 million copyright infringement verdict at the Ninth Circuit March 15.
Zillow didn’t willfully infringe the copyrights of a photo company that owned pictures posted on the site, the court ruled.
VHT is a real estate photography studio that licensed thousands of photographs to Zillow, an online real estate marketplace. Zillow used VHT’s photos on two parts of its website: its listing platform, which features photos and information about properties, and Digs, which features photos of artistically designed rooms.
