Zillow Fends Off Attempt to Block Use of ‘Rental Manager’ Name

The maker of “Rent Manager” property management software failed in its preliminary attempt in an Ohio federal court to block Zillow Inc. from using the name Zillow Rental Manager for a web-based property management tool.

London Computer Systems Inc. sells Rent Manager, which it says “combines all the features a property manager needs to run a real property business into one integrated solution.” London says Rent Manager has around 37,000 users.

Real estate site Zillow acquired a property management tool called Postlets that helps property managers post rental listings. Zillow rebranded the tool as “Zillow Rental Manager.” Zillow’s legal team ...
