Zeiss, ASML Win First Round in Nikon Cameras Fight at ITC

Nikon Corp. infringed three patents for digital cameras owned by Carl Zeiss AG and ASML Holding NV, U.S. International Trade Commission Judge Mary Joan McNamara said in a notice on the agency’s website.

No violation was found on two other patents, McNamara said.

Carl Zeiss and ASML claimed that Nikon infringed patents for image sensors and are seeking an import ban on Nikon digital cameras.

The judge’s findings, which will be made public after both sides get a chance to redact confidential information, is subject to review by the full ITC.
