Zebra Bid for Import Ban on Honeywell Scanners Sparks ITC Probe

The U.S. International Trade Commission said it’s launched an investigation based on Zebra Technologies Corp.’s patent infringement complaint seeking to block U.S. imports of Honeywell International Inc.’s barcode scanners, mobile computers, and scan engines.

The trade agency issued its notice on Wednesday in Washington, two days after it announced that it had instituted an investigation based on another patent infringement complaint Zebra filed concurrently on Feb. 4.

The dispute is over portable scanners used in warehouses, retail stores and other businesses to track and monitor inventory and the supply chain. The ITC cases are part of a wider battle between ...
