Youth Social Media Addiction Plaintiffs File Master Complaint

Attorneys representing nearly 100 adolescents who say they were harmed by social media platforms filed a master complaint on Tuesday alleging that Meta Platforms Inc., Google LLC, BytDance Ltd., and Snap Inc. created social media products that caused a youth mental health crisis, encouraged dangerous “challenges,” and facilitated sex trafficking.

The almost 300-page complaint was filed in a multidistrict litigation case that consolidated the dozens of product liability lawsuits against the social media platforms in a San Francisco-based federal court.
