Yoenis Céspedes Wins Injunction Barring Sale of Infringing Bats

Former New York Mets player Yoenis Céspedes’ company won a court order prohibiting a competitor from selling baseball bats that infringe the “Chandler Bats” trademark or misappropriate a secret manufacturing process.

La Potencia LLC sufficiently demonstrated a likelihood of confusion between their “Chandler Bats” and the “Authentic by David Chandler” bats manufactured by MaxBat Inc., the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida said in a Tuesday order granting a preliminary injunction. Evidence included Philadelphia Phillies and Colorado Rockies staff mixing up the companies and bats.
