The ability of U.S. courts to stop litigation in other countries was demonstrated when a federal court told a zipper maker was told to stop pursuing a patent lawsuit in Japan.
YKK Corp. had agreed to resolve its patent dispute with Trelleborg Coated Systems US, Inc. in New York, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York said.
Trelleborg, which is suing YKK for infringing its U.S. patents and violating a worldwide licensing agreement, won its request for a preliminary “anti-suit” injunction May 8.
