X, Music Industry Seek Copyright Suit Pause for Settlement Talks

X Corp. joined a slew of music publishers to ask a Tennessee federal court to pause a copyright infringement lawsuit against the social media company so they can work out a settlement.

Ongoing discovery, including depositions and expert testimony, would interfere with the parties’ mutual efforts to amicably resolve the dispute, they told the US District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee June 6. They filed a joint request to stay the case for 90 days to allow them to focus on negotiations in a lawsuit originally seeking $250 million in damages.
