X Corp. Dodges Pretrial Ban on User-Video Tech Amid Patent Fight

VidStream LLC failed to convince a judge to block X Corp., formerly Twitter Inc., from enabling or distributing user-generated videos on its social media platform while a patent-infringement fight plays out in Dallas federal court.

VidStream didn’t meet its burden “to demonstrate why Twitter’s purported infringement cannot be compensated with monetary damages” it could win at trial, and thus “fails to make a sufficient showing of irreparable injury,” Judge David C. Godbey wrote in an opinion and order filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
