Writer Suing Apple, Shyamalan Has Valid Copyright, Judge Rules

A writer suing Apple Inc. and filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan convinced a judge she has a valid copyright registration in her 2013 movie “The Truth About Emanuel” she says was copied in the Apple TV+ show “Servant.”

Judge Sunshine S. Sykes took the question of writer Francesca Gregorini’s copyright registration off the table for the infringement lawsuit that’s slated to go to trial next week in an opinion filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
