A writer claiming to be the co-author of the “Top Gun: Maverick” screenplay sued Paramount Global seeking either ownership rights for his contributions to the script or a ruling that Paramount infringed his work.

Plaintiff Shaun Gray claimed he was the only one of several contributors who never signed a work-for-hire contract, according to the complaint filed Sunday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
