WiTricity Electric Vehicle Patent Zapped by Administrative Board

A maker of wireless electric vehicle charging systems convinced an administrative tribunal to invalidate a WiTricity Corp. patent related to charging technology, on Monday.

It was the fifth in a string of wins at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board for InductEv Inc., which used to be called Momentum Dynamics.

In December 2020, WiTricity sued InductEV in federal court in Delaware for infringing seven patents, including US Patent No. 7,741,734. Six months later, InductEV responded by launching administrative challenges of five of the patents, arguing they shouldn’t have been issued.
