The Wisconsin Elections Commission’s online voter registration system should be shut down due to “inadequate security” that threatens the personal data of Wisconsin voters, according to a complaint.
The state’s “MyVote portal lacks adequate cybersecurity measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other cybersecurity threats,” according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. For instance, it said, the portal doesn’t allow users to create accounts with usernames and passwords to protect themselves against third parties requesting absentee ballots in their names.
