Whirlpool Sues Sellers of Unauthorized Replacement Water Filters

Whirlpool Corp. accused eight companies in Texas federal court of infringing its patents by making and selling “non-genuine” replacement water filters for its refrigerators.

The appliance maker sued eight companies based in China, the U.K., and Canada that sell filters with names like Mountain Flow, Glacial Pure, and Glacial Peak through morefilter.com and three other websites. Whirlpool says the defendants jointly operate the sites.

“Although Defendants offer dozens of listings for the accused products on their websites, Defendants do not offer for sale a single genuine Whirlpool water filter,” Whirlpool said in the Wednesday complaint in the U.S. District Court ...
