The Washington Star Co. dropped its lawsuit over NOTUS Media LLC’s planned rebrand to “Washington Star” two weeks after securing an emergency restraining order in a ruling indicating it was likely to prevail.
Judge Rossie D. Alston Jr.'s June 2 ruling stopped the planned revival of the name of a daily publication that ran from 1852 to 1981.
The notice of voluntary dismissal with prejudice, filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, may indicate a settlement. Counsel for the parties didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
