Washington state’s attorney general has sued a North Carolina patent licensing business over its allegedly “predatory ‘patent troll’” practices.
The lawsuit, filed in the state’s King County Superior Court Thursday, alleges Landmark Technology A sent close to 1,900 letters to businesses in 48 states over 18 months, alleging infringement of U.S. Patent No. 7,010,508, related to banking technology.
Landmark sought as much as $65,000 for a license, according to copies of letters included in the complaint. Landmark’s attorney didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
