Walmart Inc. filed a lawsuit alleging the Express Pay function of BJ’s Wholesale Club Holdings Inc.’s mobile app infringes four patents for technology that allows shoppers to scan products while in a store and make payments without having to go through a checkout line.

The patents cover Sam’s Club’s Scan & Go, a free feature that launched in 2016, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida by Walmart’s Sam’s West Inc. and Walmart Apollo LLC units.
