Pharmacy store giant Walgreen Co. filed a federal trademark infringement lawsuit against Walgreen Health Solutions LLC, an Illinois-based medical equipment and healthcare company led by the great-grandson of the founder of the drugstore, Walgreens.
The defendant sells a number of health products including hand sanitizer, personal protective gear, lotions, and medical cushioned boots under the “Walgreen” brand, which has already caused consumer confusion, according to the complaint. Their products are sold exclusively online, whereas the plaintiff is ubiquitious in home healthcare with nearly 9,000 stores nationwide under the brand, Walgreens.
