Volvo Escapes Patent Suit as Judge Sees More Flair Than Facts

Volvo Car AB defeated a lawsuit over technology related to a car’s internal communications network, as a federal judge rejected the “logical leap” a patent-holding firm’s expert made in her infringement testimony.

Judge Joshua D. Wolson granted Volvo Car USA LLC’s request for summary judgment that its cars using the Automotive Open System Architecture, also known as AUTOSAR, don’t infringe Stragent LLC’s US Patent No. 9,705,765, in an opinion issued Monday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
