VMware to Settle Case That Led to Densify’s $85 Million Verdict

VMware LLC and Densify have settled their seesawing clash over patents for virtual computer systems one year after a federal jury awarded Densify $84.5 million for VMware’s infringement, according to a court filing.

VMware and Densify, officially named Cirba Inc., asked Judge Gregory B. Williams to pause the case until June 17 so they can prepare a settlement agreement ending the five-year-old lawsuit, according to a stipulation and proposed order to stay filed May 10 in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. It hadn’t been approved as of 1:50 p.m. Monday.
