VirnetX Falls as Appeals Court Denies Bid to Nix Patent Ruling

Shares of VirnetX dropped by as much as 7.6% after a U.S. appeals court denied its request to throw out a government agency’s patent-invalidity ruling.

  • In July, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board ruled two of VirnetX patents were invalid, siding with Apple in a dispute over the technology
  • U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, in an opinion issued Tuesday, denied VirnetX’s request to vacate and remand the ruling before trial
