VH1 Avoids Injunction Over James R’s Hip-Hop Song ‘Bad Girl’

VH1 Networks has done everything it can to scrub James R’s hip-hop song “Bad Girl” from two episodes of its reality show Love & Hip Hop New York, a federal district court said.

A preliminary injunction therefore isn’t needed in the copyright infringement suit by the song’s copyright owner, Luis Vargas and Bully Sound Records Inc., Judge Louis L. Stanton of the Southern District of New York said.

James R was featured on the show and Bully Sound sued VH1 soon after the episodes aired.

VH1 replaced the episodes with versions that don’t have the song in it. ...
