Versace’s Suit Says Fashion Nova Copies ‘Iconic’ Dress Designs

Gianni Versace Srl has sued “fast fashion” seller Fashion Nova in a Los Angeles federal court for allegedly infringing its copyrights, trademarks, and trade dress by selling “knock-off” Versace dresses.

Fashion Nova “deliberately copies Versace’s most famous and recognizable designs,” Versace says in a Nov. 25 complaint.

Fashion Nova allegedly infringes Versace’s copyrights in the designs on its “Barocco - 57,” “Pop Hearts,” and “Jungle Print” dresses. The “Jungle Print” is well-known as the “iconic” green dress worn by Jennifer Lopez at the Grammy Awards, Versace says.

Fashion Nova’s dresses also allegedly incorporate Versace’s design trademarks, including a “medusa head” ...
