Verizon, Ericsson Request New Trial in $847 Million Patent Suit

Verizon Wireless and its supplier Ericsson Inc. told a Texas federal judge a new trial in a $847 million dispute over wireless technology is warranted because the court excluded evidence, the patent owner elicited misleading testimony, and the verdict form had errors.

A jury determined Cellco Partnership—doing business as Verizon Wireless—infringed General Access Solutions Ltd.'s US Patent Nos. 7,230,931 and 9,426,794 by using similar methods for its 4G and 5G wireless networks and products in June after a trial in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
