Verizon, Ericsson Hit With Patent Suit for 5G Technology

Procomm International Pte. Ltd sued Verizon Communications Inc. and Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson for allegedly infringing five patents by creating and selling devices that provide 5G wireless telecommunications services.

Ericsson supplied infringing telecommunications equipment to Verizon for 5G network services, according to the complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Procomm said Ericsson and Verizon knew or should know about the patents because of their own technology development in the same field. Four of Procomm’s patents were cited during prosecution of Ericsson’s patents in a separate matter, according to the complaint.
