Verizon, AT&T Lose Early Bids to Sink Two Mailing-Data Patents

Verizon Communications Inc. and units of AT&T Inc. failed to persuade a federal judge to throw out separate lawsuits accusing them of infringing patented database-cleansing technology.

Judge Jennifer Choe-Groves rejected arguments by the telecommunications carriers that OnePass Data Technology LLC’s US Patent Nos. 7,376,680 and 8,682,866 cover abstract ideas ineligible for patenting. She denied the dismissal bids in opinions issued in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
