Verisk’s Patent-Verdict Damages Tripled by Judge to $375 Million

Verisk must pay EagleView Technologies $375 million after a federal judge tripled a New Jersey jury’s 2019 verdict for infringing EagleView’s aerial-imaging patents.

  • The court “will award enhanced damages to the maximum allowable extent” because of the jury’s finding that the infringement by Verisk and its Xactware Solutions unit was intentional, Judge Renee Marie Bumb wrote in an opinion issued Tuesday in federal court in Camden, New Jersey
  • Judge also denied EagleView’s request for an accounting of infringing sales after March 2019
  • The technology is used to create three-dimensional models from aerial images of roofs
