UWash, TwinStrand Sue Guardant for Royalties on DNA Sequencing

The University of Washington and closely held TwinStrand said several of Guardant’s digital sequencing diagnostic kits, used to analyze fragments of DNA in samples of blood or other tissues, infringe four patents for the technology.

  • TwinStrand and the university are seeking cash compensation and either an ongoing royalty or a court order blocking further unauthorized use of inventions, according to complaint filed Tuesday in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware
  • Targeted products include Guardant 360 lab developed test, Guardant360 CDx, GuardantOMNI, Guardant Reveal, Guardant LUNAR-2, Guardant360 Response and Guardant360 TissueNext; and Guardant’s Connect and Inform data services, complaint says
