The US Patent and Trademark Office has established a new pre-application review program, according to a USPTO announcement Thursday.
The pre-prosecution pilot program assesses the strengths and weaknesses of a potential patent application from first-time, prospective inventors. It will provide search assistance using public patent tools to determine if an invention is novel, the USPTO said.
The agency is accepting candidates for the pilot program until Jan. 31, 2024.
