Record labels including Universal Music Group Inc. settled a lawsuit accusing the companies of sampling without permission a 1970s French instrumental track in the 2018 song “Narcos” by the hip hop group Migos.
The US District Court for the Southern District of New York paused the case on Wednesday after the parties said they’d reached a settlement agreement in principle on Tuesday. The settlement doesn’t include defendant Idaly Publishing Inc., which the court found in default in 2024 for failure to respond to the lawsuit.
