Uber’s Surge-Pricing Feature Target of Patent-Infringement Suit

The surge-pricing feature of Uber Technologies Inc.’s ride-hailing mobile app is the target of a federal lawsuit in Delaware alleging infringement of two patents issued this year to SurgeTech LLC.

SurgeTech says Uber’s system for managing online bookings for services such as transportation includes an app for riders, an app for drivers, and backend computer servers and systems that communicate with and collect data from riders and drivers, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
