Twitch Beats Makers of Bots Inflating Viewer Numbers

Video game streaming platform Twitch Interactive Inc. won a suit against the makers of bots that artificially inflate streamer popularity statistics in the Northern District of California.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted Twitch a default judgment against two bot makers for infringing its trademarks, cybersquatting, and breaching its terms of service.

Eric Bouchouev and Jared Kelly operated websites that Twitch said “entice broadcasters to use bot services to artificially inflate the usage associated with the broadcasters’ channels.” Among other things, the bots inflated Twitch streamers’ viewer, follower, and other usage numbers.
