TSMC Products Violate Semiconductor Patents, Texas Firm Says (1)

A newly formed Texas company sued Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd., saying the company’s products used by electronics makers such as Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd infringe a suite of patents it acquired.

TSMC semiconductors infringe seven Advanced Integrated Circuit Process LLC patents covering circuits and fabrication, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. TSMC’s willful infringement of its technology has caused substantial damage to the Texas company, it said.
