John A. Squires, President Donald Trump’s nominee to run the US Patent and Trademark Office, was voted out of the Senate Judiciary Committee by a 20-2 vote.
Senators voted to advance Squires nomination, with seven Democrats joining all the committee’s Republicans in supporting him. Squires is a partner at Dilworth Paxson, where he leads the firm’s emerging companies and IP team. He’s had stints at three other law firms and worked at Goldman Sachs and Honeywell over a three-decade career.
