Trio Takes Ticketmaster to Trial Over Ticket Sales System Patent

Ticketmaster ripped off Global eTicket Exchange Ltd.'s patented electronic-ticketing system and owes up to $122 million as a result, a trio of inventors argued at trial Monday in Texas federal court in Waco.

GEE, started by the inventors, sued sister companies Ticketmaster LLC and sister company, Live Nation Worldwide Inc. in 2021.

The Pittsburgh-area company argued Monday that the event giants, units of Live Nation Entertainment, Inc., infringed US Patent No. 8,849,720—a patent covering their ticketing system that was conceived of in the late ‘90s.
