TransUnion Unit to Pay $37 Million in Data Misuse Settlement (1)

A unit of consumer credit reporting giant TransUnion will pay $37 million to resolve claims that it misused data collected while fulfilling contracts with federal banking regulators, prosecutors said.

The settlement Tuesday with the Justice Department and the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia brings to a close an investigation into Argus Information & Advisory Services Inc., a government contractor.
