Toyota Hit With Patent Suit Concerning In-Car Wi-Fi Hotspots

Vehicles manufactured by Toyota Motor North America Inc. that feature LTE cellular connectivity infringe several wireless communication patents, according to a new federal lawsuit.

GenghisComm Holdings LLC sued Toyota in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claiming that its cars infringe four patents related to network throughput, radio processing, and interference mitigation.

The RAV4, Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Prius, and other Wi-Fi capable vehicles are named by the complaint for their allegedly unauthorized use of GenghisComm patented components.
